Gooseberry ‘Hinnonmaki Yellow’
Originally bred in Finland, this Gooseberry is a hardy and productive variety, producing excellent crops of luminous yellow berries with a deliciously sweet-sour flavour.
Don't forget the fruits only develop their sweetness when fully ripe, if you can wait that long that is! They are also excellent for traditional gooseberry fools, crumbles, pies and homemade preserves, especially if picked a little earlier when they still have a sharper flavour.

Hannah's Garden Diary
You may have a delightful but cheeky resident blackbird who takes a liking to these, so it might become a race between you to see who can get to the berries first. As with all tangy soft fruit in my garden, I also have to race my garden-grazing children if I want to get a chance to cook with any!
