This collection includes compact shrubs, ornamental grasses, hardy ferns, and long-lived perennials selected for their suitability in containers on patios, balconies, and courtyard gardens.Find the right plant for your conditions☀️ By Sunlight Full Sun — south- or west-facing spots with 6+ hours of direct light Partial Shade — dappled light or 3–6 hours of sun Full Shade — north-facing walls, under trees, or covered areas 📐 By Space Small Containers — ideal for pots under 30 cm diameter, windowboxes, and balconies Medium Containers — suits 30–50 cm pots, most patios Large Containers — statement plants for half-barrels and raised planters Tips for success Compost: Use a loam-based compost (e.g. John Innes No. 3) for long-term container planting — it holds moisture and nutrients better than peat-free multipurpose alone. Drainage: Always ensure pots have drainage holes and add a layer of crocks or gravel to prevent waterlogging. Feeding: Container plants exhaust nutrients quickly — feed fortnightly with a balanced liquid fertiliser during the growing season. Watering: Check containers daily in summer; they dry out faster than border soil.
