'White Dazzler' in particular adds an interesting textual element with its unusually divided green leaves forming in finger-like leaflets. Clethra barbinervis - 10Litre

The Japanese Clethra is a fantastic shrub with strong green, slightly ribbed leaves growing from reddened stems and long pinnacles of white flowers in summer which are extremely attractive to insects, butterflies in particular. One of the most interesting things about this plant is as it matures and develops a trunk the bark colours are much more than your regular brown trunk. This bottlebrush is an exotic looking plant with long arching stems of green waxy leaves. In spring the Callistemon develops a fluffy tips to the ends of the branches in as the new leaves emerge in soft fluffy tufts at the tips of the branches, these are followed by long, unusually shaped yellow flowers also on the tips of the branches.  This Berberis, much like most Berberis is a fantastically thorny plant which as beautiful as it is, it is one to approach wearing gauntlets and with great care.
