This is a delightful semi-evergreen, upright magnolia with bold green leaves which is inundated with beautiful creamy goblet shaped very scented flowers in spring. - If only I had got around to taking a photo of these in flower this year! They were stunning!  The photo of the more mature plant is of a similar(but not exact) variety in our own garden, it has been in for about 4 years and has really taken to its shady location. Viburnum tinus ‘Gwenllian’ - 7.5 Litre

A lovely medium-sized evergreen shrub with clusters of bold pink-red buds that open to delicate pink flowers from winter through to spring and, to be honest, they will continue to appear sporadically throughout the year if the plant is kept fed and watered! This viburnum provides valuable colour during the colder months. It is a reliable and easy-to-grow shrub that brings year-round structure to the garden. Many people use these in pots as low-maintenance plants. However, have you ever noticed they sometimes develop a black, sooty appearance on their leaves and start to look... well... a bit ill? That's usually because they are not being kept on top of watering and feeding. Stressed plants are often more susceptible to aphids, and the sticky honeydew they produce can encourage the growth of black sooty mould on the leaves. To keep your Viburnum happy, water it a few times a week when growing in a pot, even during winter if rainfall has been scarce. We also recommend feeding with a good shrub fertiliser (we like Vitax Q4) twice a year (spring and autumn) and occasionally giving it a boost with a liquid seaweed feed containing iron. Sciadopitys verticillata - 3 Litre

One of the most cheerfully named plants we have on the nursery! The Japanese Umbrella Pine is a delightful, slow-growing conifer with glossy green needles arranged in umbrella-like whorls along the stems. Over time, it develops attractive, chunky ovoid cones and a handsome architectural shape, making it a wonderful specimen plant for the garden. A real collector's plant, it brings year-round interest and only becomes more impressive with age.
