This variety of the Mexican mock orange is a fantastically scented evergreen plant with a sweet spicy smell, similar to bayleaves. The C. 'White Dazzler' in particular adds an interesting textual element with its unusually divided green leaves forming in finger-like leaflets. Myrtus communis - 10 Litre

This Myrtle is a delightful shrub with aromatic deep green evergreen leaves and pearly white flowers cover this type of Myrtle in mid summer.  Myrtle has carried great superstition around for weddings, love and fertility in particular. Initially the Romans used it for wedding ceremonies as they believed it signified love, it also became popular in 19th century Germany where young girls would dance around the bride and at the end of this dance a wreath made of Myrtle would be placed upon a girls head to signify who would marry next.  In English folk-law a brides flowers should have a sprig of Myrtle for luck, love and fertility, enhanced by the royal family who have a Myrtle on the Isle of White which has great family significance for them. Even Hannah and Mike dressed the entrance to the church with Myrtle cut from Hannah's parents garden where it still grows today.  There is heaps more we could say about this plant, so Hannah is writing a little blog about it which will be published soon!  Leaf colour: Green. Callistemon 'Honey Pot' - 7.5Litre

This bottlebrush is an exotic looking plant with long arching stems of green waxy leaves. In spring the Callistemon develops a fluffy tips to the ends of the branches in as the new leaves emerge in soft fluffy tufts at the tips of the branches, these are followed by long, unusually shaped yellow flowers also on the tips of the branches. These flowers are an absolute mecca for butterflies, bees and hover-flies.  This plant does really well in in the garden generally but also succeeds in pots and particularly in hot, dry areas of the garden. Berberis thunbergii f. 'Atropurpurea Nana' - 10Litre

 This Berberis, much like most Berberis is a fantastically thorny plant which as beautiful as it is, it is one to approach wearing gauntlets and with great care. I like to plant them in places I don't particularly want people to be able to access. Blog post on traditional house 'defence' plants to follow. A vigorous shrub with arching branches holding red rounded occasionally mottled green in tone, turning more and more plumb as the season goes on.
